Ideas Viewpoints The Golden Path for Teenagers
The main difference between parenting children up to the age of puberty and developing teenagers is that our emphasis shifts from meeting their needs and supporting the growth of a strong sense of self, to ‘guiding' them through issues, events and relationships.

We start introducing more consciously what we as parents think and feel; we bring into the dialogue how their actions impact on us, allowing them to continue to understand about other people's needs in addition to their own. As our teenagers experience this interaction with us, they then allow it to shine through in other contexts, including with their peers.
